Last year students performed in Fame Jr the Musical…

Conceived and Developed by David De Silva
Book By José Fernandez
Lyrics byJacques Levy and Music by Steve Margoshes
Title Song “Fame” written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore

Through the musical, I was able to make connections with students that I may not have spoken to previously, and extended myself outside my comfort zone. I was mainly trained as a dancer, and hadn’t done much singing and acting in the past, so I really had to focus and hone in on these skills to put together a musical with singing, acting and dancing. What was also so special about the musical was how efficiently and quickly we all worked. We had a total of 6 weeks to put this show together. That included workshops, training and rehearsals for all components of performing. Having this short time period gave us clear insight into what working professionally in a musical would be like. You have to work hard, and not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zones, because that is where the magic happens. So overall, this was an incredibly experience and an honest credit to ShowBiz for giving all of us opportunities like these to learn, grow, gain experiences, form connections, and improve in a professional environment.
